Cetra combines intense live shows with richly textured compositions that transcend mainstream rock. There’s no doubting that this is an exceptional band. Following the success of last year with a spot on Van’s Warped Tour, a barrage of shows throughout British Columbia, and an independently released self-titled EP; The band is set to perform a cross Canada tour this summer coinciding with the launch of their first full length album.
Bodog TV (February 2008), “Cetra followed with their heavy emo influenced sound. Their rhythmic changes were everywhere, performed with precision of course. They had a bagpipe transition between their songs. Props for busting out the obscure instruments! This six-piece band played with intensity and fury. They added some nice touches with keys, softening up their otherwise heavy melodies. “The Record Label / Fight Network also noted “There were hooks all over the place from Cetra. Their fans went nuts as soon as they came onstage. Everyone loved them."
Garage Entertainment (January 2008), “Cetra is Vancouver’s stand out six piece rock act. Known for their blazing stage show filled with a harmonic of dueling guitars, drums, bass and cleverly written vocal melodies, they are sharp to watch. Get enlightened by Cetra.”
Cetra has been focused on creating something different while letting their diverse influences bleed through. Their result is only definable as a melting pot of kick ass drumming behind cutting edge synth, metal guitar riffs and poppy melodic vocal lines that leave you humming. Heavy and grinding at one moment, beautiful and atmospheric the next, the band’s diverse song writing ability shines through. Their 2007 self-titled EP was a powerful statement of their ability to draw on their many influences and natural talent to create original music.
This Six piece hails from Vancouver, British Columbia. Cetra has packed the Media Club, The Roxy, The Plaza Club, The Bourbon and won a spot with Ernie Ball at Thunderbird Stadium for vans warped tour.
Produced by Brad Nichol, Cetra’s full length album (set to be released in 2009) marks the beginning of a bold new direction for the prog rock, metal band.
