Do you ever imagine what it would have been like to discover some of the now legendary bands when they only had 100 fans? In hindsight, all the signs would be there for future legendary status.
The bands that we now know and love had: a percussionist who defied conventional drumming; a bass player who made you take notice; a guitar player who only had to play the first note and you knew the band; a singer who’s voice you connected with and made you want to sing along; songwriting that would create the soundtrack for your generation; and even a writer/producer who would become a household name.
In the immortal words, ladies and gentlemen – the MiMi Cry band! Logan is formally trained percussionist who incorporates bongos, tambourines along with a traditional drum set to create a unique beat to the music. Remy is the bass player, with a presence that commands your attention and holds you to every note. Dmitri is the lead guitarist and he has expanded on sounds and techniques Jimi Hendrix and Mark Knopler started and has taken them to new and interesting places. Front man Sean Graham comes alive on stage, with an understated swagger that engages the audience and invites them to sing along. Sean’s classic raspy voice also adds an edge to the catchy melodic tunes he has written with industry veteran and soon to be household name producer Jay McGroarty.
In their first month, after playing just one show and recording three rough demos, MiMi Cry have already been selected to play at the prestigious Canadian Music Week with bands from all over the world. They are doing an interview on a Toronto Internet radio station, with their songs being added to regular rotation. MiMi Cry is also in the running for a National Talent Search, after Sean was runner up in the Toronto’s Rising Star songwriting competition. MiMi Cry jumped the line and was added to the second round of an industry showcase concert event. And not surprisingly, they are in the top ten voting for Band of the Month on 102.1 the Edge – some good momentum for their first 30 days.
