"We will break away from the norm. To your halter, we'll place a stone"
A band whose sole purpose is to rock out heavy, is Toronto's up and coming Halter Stone. Consisting of four members who come from different musical backgrounds, that were able to cross paths and form an explosive sound this city has yet to discover. The name Halter Stone was given its meaning by the band to symbolize their breaking free from previous ties and their personal liberation and confidence towards their musical journey; and this time around, there is no backing out.
The band is already turning heads with their hard rock, head banging live performances. Their sound can be best described as a combination of heavy old school rock with modern rhythms which are infused with classical arrangements and powerful anthem like vocals that can please any listener due to the simple nature of it all. The band is best compared to Breaking Benjamin, Paparoach, Seven Dust and Pantera, whom are Halter Stone's major influences. It is the result of each individual member's experience in music writing and performing that they were able to come up with a sound so unique that leaves listeners wanting to hear more.
Lead singer Karl McKay has always been known for his authoritative voice, his rebellious attitude and for entertaining crowds with his stage presence. Karl has gained so much experience from his previous band, working with a record label as lead singer/bassist. This time around, he chose to lead his band as its singer so he could focus on fronting the band the way he's always envisioned it.
Lead guitarist and back up vocalist of Halter Stone, Kamil Rzeznik began writing music at an early age. This led him to experiment with different bands and experienced a variety of success. One of which was winning second best guitarist in the world in a competition held by Emergenza in 2008. Kamil's guitar sound is best described as a combination of classical inspired riffs, infused with modern outside of the box and emotionally charged rhythm. Crowds are always amazed by how incredibly talented he is; and perhaps the reason for this is his humble attitude towards himself and his music.
When performing on stage, it is hard for audiences to keep their eyes off bassist Robin Dworak. One of Robin's biggest accomplishments was being a head knight at Medieval Times. Perhaps it was due to that great experience that Robin's theatrical stage presence is so empowering. Along with his unorthodox bass playing and his confident attitude, Robin is definitely a crowd pleaser. Robin and Kamil played in two other bands before joining Halter Stone, and it is incredible to watch the chemistry they share when performing on stage.
Known for his steady, and at times machine gun like beats; and not to mention his impressive stage persona, is the band's drummer Jorge Pereira. Jorge previously played drums for several other bands before joining Halter Stone; and throughout the years, he has managed to perfect his distinct sound which blends in perfectly with the rest of his band mates.
The timing couldn't be better for the members of Halter Stone to cross paths and form a band. To have all four members on board with the same vision is the missing piece of the puzzle. They are ready and unstoppable to take rock and roll to the next level.
