Violet Height smolders up somewhere between our dreams and our secrets. The dark confessions of Chase’s raw and sensuous alto move against her minimalist guitar. The tracks feature Chase on guitar and vocals played against a bluesy, indie-rock landscape of textured percussion, bass lines, cello and trumpet.
After the loss of a close friend, Chase’s depression inspired dozens of deeply personal songs. Chase, along with contributions from a number of Vancouver musicians, recorded these at the legendary Warehouse studio in Vancouver, resulting in Violet Height’s EP "Heavyweight." Chase’s lyrics are reminiscent of the Velvet Underground crossed with Cat Power. The effect: pouring raw honey down then licking it up again and again.
